ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' baseball won the first game in a three-game series against LeTourneau on Saturday night 6-3 in American Southwest Conference play.

The Yellow Jackets would eventually get a 3-2 lead in the sixth inning, but a leadoff double by John Paul Tople in the eighth would cash in for a three-run inning for the Cowboys to retake the lead and go on to win 6-3.

Dylan Sweeney, Tople, Cade Johnson, and Garrison all had two hits on the night in the Cowboys 12-hit game. Garrison and Danny-David Linahan both had a pair of RBIs to lead HSU.

For LeTourneau, Bryce Brueggemeyer had a pair of RBIs on one hit and a sac fly.

Jaxon Terrell got the start on the mound for the Cowboys and pitched a gem going the full nine innings with seven strikeouts and only allowing five hits on the night. Konner Gayle took the loss for the Yellow Jackets.
