Cowboys Top Linfield In Wild Game

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' baseball team beat Linfield 12-9 in a wild game on Saturday night at AirHogs Stadium in Grand Prairie.

Linfield jumped out to a 3-0 lead with a run on an error in the second inning and a sacrifice fly and RBI single in the third.

HSU responded with three runs to tie the game in the third inning. Garrett Frazier had a two-run RBI single and Garrett Buckner had an RBI single.

Tyler Bradshaw gave the Cowboys the lead with an RBI single in the fourth and John Paul Tople added a two-run single. Hunter Garrison had an RBI double and Cade Johnson an RBI single to make the score 8-3 after five innings.

Jaime Dominguez made it 10-3 with a two-run single in the seventh inning. Linfield scored five times in the eighth inning to cut the deficit to 10-8.

HSU responded with two runs in the eight on a passed ball and a Garrison RBI groundout to make it 12-8. Linfield received a home run Levi Villa Horner.

Garrison and Buckner had three hits each for HSU to pace the 14-hit attack.

Hayden Clark was solid on the mound, scattering eight hits in six innings of work to earn the win. He allowed just one earned runs (three total). Justin Adams and Hayden Day worked in relief.

Mitch Grove took the loss in relief for Linfield. Horner had three hits to lead the Wildcats.

The Cowboys are now 1-1 on the year and Linfield fell to 0-2. HSU will play Concordia on Sunday at 4 p.m.
