Cowboys End Season With Loss To UTD
RICHARDSON, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' baseball team fell 4-1 to UT Dallas to end its season at the American Southwest Conference Baseball Tournament on Saturday evening.

The teams were locked into a pitching duel early in the game and HSU got the first run on the board with a solo home run in the top of the third.

The game was 1-0 until the bottom of the fifth inning when the Comets got to Cowboy starter Ty Engelhardt for their only four runs of the game. The Comets tied the game with three straight singles. Luke Richter made it 2-1 with an RBI single and then the big blow came from Mitch Barati with a two-run double.

Mike Richardson came on and got out of the inning and then worked three more scoreless innings in relief. Englehardt was solid through the first four innings and the Comets just pecked at him with base hits in the fifth. He went four and two thirds and fell to 3-5 on the year.

Cole Hanson worked a completed game for the Comets to improve to 6-1. He scattered nine hits and struck out eight.

Cody Berryman had three hits for the Cowboys and de Luna and Jace Langen each had two hits in their final games at HSU. Barati led the Comets with two hits and drove in a pair of runs.

HSU closes the season with a record of 20-23 and UTD improved to 33-10. The Comets need to beat East Texas Baptist twice on Sunday to continue the season.

It was the final game of the careers of 13 HSU seniors.
