Cowboys Fall Late To Concordia
AUSTIN, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' baseball team dropped the opening game of its American Southwest Conference series with Concordia, 11-8, on Friday night in Austin.

After HSU had scored five runs in the top of the eighth inning to take an 8-6 lead, Concordia answered with five runs to take the 11-8 lead.

The game featured 368 pitches, 13 pitchers, 15 walks, and six errors and took four hours to play.

Concordia took a 3-0 lead after the third inning with a pair of runs in the second and another in the third. HSU tied the game in the top of the fifth with three runs. Taylor Cooling had an RBI single and Anthony Beasley had a two-run single.

The Tornados came back with two runs in the fifth on three hits and added another run in the sixth.

HSU rallied in the eighth with five runs. Tyler Bradshaw had a two-run pinch-hit single. HSU scored on a pair of bases loaded walks and an error.

Concordia came back with five runs on three hits, three walks and an error in the eighth.

Kyle Johnson took the loss out of the bullpen and Ryan Capel earned the win for the Tornados with an inning and a third of scoreless relief.

Cody Berryman had three hits for the Cowboys and Cade Johnson and Elijah Perez had two hits each for the Cowboys. Bret Lieferman had three hits for Concordia.

The loss snapped a six-game winning streak for the Cowboys and they fell to 16-18 on the year and 8-11 in league play. Concordia improved to 22-13 and 12-7 in ASC action. The teams will play a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday.
