A native of Long Island, New York, Tim O’Leary came to HSU in 1978 and quickly raised the expectations of the Division I program. He holds the pre-Division III era records for most goals in a season (26) and in a career (50). In 1980 & 1981 he was first team all-conference in the Trans America Athletic Conference while earning academic awards in the Irwin School of Education. Named MVP in 1982. In 1983 O’Leary started the boys’ soccer program at Waco Midway where he has won over 500 games, including the 2002 UIL State Championship. In 2002, he was named the Super Centex Coach of the Year, and Regional and State Coach of the Year. During this time he earned his MS in education from Baylor University. Tim is married to his wife Lisa and they have two children Katy and Kort. O’Leary has been a strong recruiter for HSU and the Men’s Soccer Program.
