Pete Murray graduated from Hardin Simmons University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1957 and a Master of Arts in Economics in 1959. Pete participated in football and basketball at Hardin-Simmons. He was one of the Division 1 Athletes who played in a football game (HSU vs. Texas Tech) and a basketball game (HSU vs. Midwestern) the same day. He was a member of Cowboys for Christ. In 1956-57 Pete earned All Border Conference in football, was selected captain of the NCAA bound basketball and was named HSU’s Most Outstanding Athlete. Pete played semi-pro basketball in New York the summer of 1956. He was a member of the 1957-58 Washington Redskins. Pete married Anita (Mullins) in 1958. They have two daughters, Melissa and Melanie and one grandson, Ben.
