SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Sydney Tencate won her third straight meet as she paced the field at the Saints Invitational at Windcrest Golf Club in San Antonio.
In the first 6K race of the season, Tencate ran a 23:13 and won the race by :35 over Ashley Rynard of Texas Lutheran. The time broke the old school record of Lindsay Hinton by one second.
As a team, the Cowgirls placed fourth with a total of 81 points. Our Lady of the Lake won with a score of 26, McMurry was second with a 61, Texas Lutheran was third with a 71 followed by HSU, Southwestern, University of Dallas and Sul Ross State.
Lauren Robson had a ninth-place finish for the Cowgirls with a time of 25:37. Yadira Loera ran a 27:03 and Emily Olguin ran a 27:09 and they finished 18th and 19th overall. Kaitlyn Garza ran a 28:05 for 28th place. Kaitlynn Nichols ran a 30:04.
HSU will run in the Oklahoma Baptist Invitational on October 7.
