Cowgirls Fall to TLU

SEGUIN, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' volleyball team dropped a 31-33, 30-20, 31-29, 30-27 match to Texas Lutheran to close out its regular season in American Southwest Conference West Division action, Saturday in Seguin.
The two teams shared the ASC West title as both teams finished with a 16-2 record in league play. It was the Cowgirls only loss in ASC West action and they won the tiebreaker to remain as the No. 1 West seed in the ASC Tournament next week at UT-Dallas.
Kaela Parnell led the Cowgirls with 18 kills in the match. Amanda Mace added 11 kills as the Cowgirls won the first game and then dropped three straight.
Five different Cowgirls had double digits in digs led by senior Chelsea Buetow with 20. Jamie Jahns and Jessica Stetler had 17 kills each.
The Cowgirls close the regular season with a record of 21-8. TLU closes its regular slate with a 19=6 mark. HSU will have a first round bye and will play the winner of the McMurry-East Texas Baptist match in the second round, Friday at UT-Dallas at 5 p.m.
