Cowgirls Set For ASC Volleyball Tournament

ABILENE, Texas — Hardin-Simmons’ volleyball team is set to compete in the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament on Friday evening at 5 p.m. at the UTD Activities Centerin Richardson.

Hardin-Simmons, which won the ASC West Division, earned a first-round bye in the tournament and will play the winner of the noon match between McMurry (17-11, No. 3 ASC West seed) and East Texas Baptist (20-10, No. 2 ASC East seed) in the first semifinal.

Host Texas-Dallas will play the winner of Texas Lutheran (19-9, No. 2 ASC West seed) and Mississippi College (13-13, No. 3 ASC East). UT-Dallas is ranked 10th nationally and is undefeated on the year at 23-0.

The Cowgirls come into the tournament as the best offensive team in the conference averaging a .254 hitting percentage. HSU is 21-6 on the year and went through conference play with a mark of 16-2. HSU is making its fifth straight trip to the ASC Tournament and is looking for its first ASC title since 2006.
