

Cowgirls Push Winning Streak To Seven

ABILENE, Texas — Hardin-Simmons’ volleyball
team extended its home winning streak to 25 games with a pair of
wins in the American Southwest Conference Crossover Tournament that
the Cowgirls co-hosted with McMurry.
HSU won its morning match with East Texas Baptist 25-21, 25-14,
25-17 and came back to sweep Mississippi College 25-22, 25-9, 25-18
in the afternoon match. The win pushed HSU’s overall winning
streak to seven straight, all in ASC action.
Against ETBU, freshman Madison Reyes led the Cowgirls with 14
kills, seniors Kaela Parnell and Chelsie Fowler contributed eight
and seven kills respectively. Diona Massey had eight kills. Setting
duties were split between Sam Lucien (19 assists) and Erin Davis
(15 assists). Junior Gracen Harris had 13 digs to pace the defense.
Kourtney Adams led the Tigers with nine kills.
Against MC, Reyes led the way again for the Cowgirls with 13 kills.
Fowler had 10 kills and Parnell added eight in what was the last
game at the Mabee Complex for the Cowgirl seniors. Sam Lucien had
26 assists in her final home game. Erin Davis added 16 assists.
Davis also had four kills in the match. Harris had 17 digs against
ETBU and for the day she had nine service aces.
Hardin-Simmons is now 16-5 overall and 13-2 in ASC action. The
Cowgirls will play at Howard Payne on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
