Cowgirls Split at Trinity Tournament


SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' volleyball team split a pair of matches at the Trinity Invitational, defeating conference rival Texas Lutheran in three games and losing to Trinity in three games, Saturday in San Antonio.

The Cowgirls defeated Texas Lutheran 25-15, 30-28, 25-19. The Cowgirls broke a three-game losing streak to its biggest ASC rival. The two teams played for the ASC title last season and next weekend the two teams will close the regular season in Abilene and the following weekend the two teams could play again in the ASC Tournament making it three straight weekends they could play.

In the game against TLU, Kaela Parnell had 12 kills and Amanda Mace added 11 kills to pace the offense. Defensively, Chelsie Fowler led the way with 24 digs.

HSU fell to 10th-ranked Trinity 27-25, 25-19, 25-21. Parnell and Cambra Hughes each had eight kills and Fowler had 14 digs.

The Cowgirls are now 16-11 on the year and will play three games this week in the last week of the regular season.
