Cowgirls Rally Past Texas Lutheran

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' volleyball team battled back from a 2-0 deficit to win the final three games to defeat Texas Lutheran 20-25, 17-25, 25-19, 25-22, 15-12 in American Southwest Conference action at the Mabee Complex on Saturday.

TLU looked in control of the match with two quick wins, but the Cowgirls battled back and won the third and fourth games. The fifth game was tied at 11-11, but the Cowgirls won four of the last five points to claim the victory,

Cambra Hughes had a huge match for the Cowgirls with 17 kills. Kaela Parnell had 11 kills and Chelsie Fowler had her second straight double-double with 11 kills and 19 digs. Sam Lucien had a career-best 34 digs in the match and Gracen Harris added 19 digs.

Jessica Stetler had 19 kills for Texas Lutheran and Jaime Jahns added 13 for Texas Lutheran. Former Cowgirl setter Amanda Curry had 39 assists and Courtney Bird had 27 digs.

The Cowgirls finish the regular season with a mark of 19-11 and 15-3 in ASC West action. It was the first conference loss of the season for TLU as they won the ASC West with a 17-1 record and will host the conference tournament next weekend in Seguin.

TLU finished the regular season with a 20-7 mark. HSU will play UT-Tyler in the first round of the tournament next Friday at noon in Seguin.
