Cowgirls Sweep Schreiner

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' volleyball team swept Schreiner 25-22, 25-16, 25-16 in American Southwest Conference volleyball action on Friday night at the Mabee Complex.

The Cowgirls battled back from an early 14-7 deficit in game one with nine straight points to take a 16-14 lead. HSU was able to hold on for the win in that game and then set the tone early with quick leads in games two and three.

Kaela Parnell led the Cowgirl attack with 10 kills in the match. Cambra Hughes, Amanda Mace and Chelsie Fowler all had five kills each for HSU in a balanced attack.

Gracen Harris had 11 digs and Fowler had 10 digs to complete her double-double. The Cowgirls played good defense, limiting the Mountaineers to a .032 hitting percentage, while hitting .300 as a team.

HSU improved to 18-11 overall and 14-3 in ASC play. The Cowgirls will close its regular season with a 11 a.m. match against Texas Lutheran on Saturday. Schreiner fell to 11-13 overall and 8-8 in league play.
