Parnell Named Academic All-District

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons junior middle blocker Kaela Parnell has been named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine College Division Academic All-District VI team in a vote by the sports information directors in the district.
It is the second straight year Parnell has been voted to the team. She has a 4.0 GPA as pre-med/Biology major. She also leads the American Southwest Conference with a .374 hitting percentage.
The Carrollton native has led the Cowgirls to a 19-11 and helped earn a berth in the American Southwest Conference tournament this weekend.
The college division all-district VI team is made up of players from NCAA Division II, III, NAIA and Junior College from Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. The all-district selections go on the ballot for all-American honors. Players must have a 3.30 GPA and have played a key role on the team.
