Cowgirls Remain Perfect

KERRVILLE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' volleyball team moved to 3-0 in American Southwest Conference action with a 25-22, 20-25, 25-22, 26-24 win over Schreiner, Friday night in Kerrville.

The two teams split the first two sets and HSU pulled out the third game 25-22. In the fourth game HSU trailed 24-18 and came back the win to close out the match.

Preseason ASC player of the year Kaela Parnell had 13 kills to pace a balanced Cowgirl attack. Cambra Hughes added nine kills and Chelsie Fowler chipped in with six.

Defensively, Gracen Harris led the way with 21 digs and Fowler had 11 digs. Parnell had five blocks.

HSU had their power serve game working as well as they produced 12 service aces. Parnell and Harris led the way with four aces each.

The win sets up a showdown with Texas Lutheran on Saturday at 11 a.m. HSU and TLU split their regular-season meetings last year and TLU won a five-set thriller in the ASC final over the Cowgirls. Both teams are undefeated in league play.

The Cowgirls have won three straight since ASC play began and have improved their record to 6-5 overall. Schreiner fell to 5-8 overall and 2-3 in ASC action.
