Parnell Named All-South Region
ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' junior middle blocker Kaela Parnell became the first Hardin-Simmons volleyball player named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association all-South Region team.
Parnell, who was a first-team all-American Southwest Conference selection and a CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine academic all-district selection, help lead the Cowgirls to a 20-12 record on the year. She led the ASC with a .379 hitting percentage on the year. She led HSU with 320 kills.
"This is a big honor for Kaela and our program," said HSU head coach Sabrina Bingham. "She is definitely deserving of the award because she had a great season and she represents everything you want in a student-athlete."
The all-South region team consists of the 14 best players in a region that spans from the East coast to Texas. Parnell was one of just three players from the ASC on the team. Only four of the 14 players on the team were middle blockers.
