Parnell Named All-American

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' junior middle blocker Kaela Parnell has become the first Hardin-Simmons volleyball player ever named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association all-American team as she was named a third-team selection on Tuesday.

Parnell, who was a first-team all-American Southwest Conference selection and a CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine academic all-district selection, help lead the Cowgirls to a 20-12 record on the year. She led the ASC with a .379 hitting percentage on the year. She led HSU with 320 kills.

"This is a big honor for Kaela and our program," said HSU head coach Sabrina Bingham. "She is definitely deserving of the award because she had a great season and she represents everything you want in a student-athlete."

She was the only player from the American Southwest Conference to be named to the all-American team. She also became the first Cowgirl to be named first-team all-South region.
