Cowgirls Sweep At ASC Crossover
ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' volleyball team won a pair of matches on Saturday in the American Southwest Conference crossover tournament that it hosted at the Mabee Complex.
In the morning match the Cowgirls defeated East Texas Baptist 25-22, 25-14, 22-25, 25-17 to give the Lady Tigers their first American Southwest Conference loss.
Kaela Parnell led the Cowgirl offense with 12 kills, Cambra Hughes added nine and Chelsie Fowler and Diona Massey had eight each. Massey hit .500 for the match. Defensively, Sam Lucien led the effort with 15 digs and Amanda Mace added 11 to go with her seven kills.
Massey had six blocks and Parnell was in on seven for the Cowgirls. ETBU was led by Mary Morgan Swanson with 13 kills and Tiffany Allen had 21 digs for ETBU.
In the second match the Cowgirls swept Mississippi College 25-14, 25-20, 25-12. Parnell had 11 kills and Fowler chipped in with nine kills and seven digs. Gracen Harris had 15 digs. MC was led by Jessica Torick's six kills.
HSU improved to 10-6 overall and 7-1 in league play. The Cowgirls will host crosstown rival McMurry on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
