HSU Defeats LeTourneau At ASC Crossover

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons, Mississippi College and LeTourneau were winners on the first day of the American Southwest Conference Crossover being held at Hardin-Simmons University.

HSU (8-6, 5-1) won its match with LeTourneau, 25-12, 2518, 25-20 and pushed its ASC home winning streak to 12.

The Cowgirls received 10 kills from Kaela Parnell and Cambra Hughes and Diona Massey added six kills each. Hughes also added six blocks. Sam Lucien led the defense with 11 digs and Amanda Mace added 10.

HSU played all three setters in the match - Kayla Dotson had 12 assists, Erin Davis had eight and Kaitlin Mitchell added seven. The Cowgirls hit .345 in the match.

LeTourneau (4-8, 1-5) was led by Kristen Chapman's 10 kills. Kim Price had 11 digs.

 

Other Matches

Mississippi College (10-6, 3-4) defeated Sul Ross State (0-14, 0-10) in the first game of the day 25-18, 25-15, 25-20. Courtney Nordyke and Sarah Conway led the way with seven kills each for MC and Amanda Greene added 16 digs.

Sul Ross State was led by Vanessa Valencia with five kills and Melissa Espino had 11 digs.

In the nightcap, LeTourneau defeated Sul Ross State, 25-22, 25-16, 20-25, 25-23. LaToya Muse led the YellowJackets with 12 kills and Magen Douglas had 14 digs. Sul Ross State was led by Erica Aeschleman had 16 kills Melissa Espino 17 digs.

The tournament concludes on Saturday with three games. East Texas Baptist and Hardin-Simmons will play at 9:30 a.m., ETBU and Sul Ross State play at noon and HSU and Mississippi College will play at 2:30.
