Cowgirls Close Out Season

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' softball team closed out its season by dropping an American Southwest Conference doubleheader to Mary Hardin-Baylor by scores of 17-1 and 3-0, Saturday afternoon at Ellis Field in Abilene.
In game one, the Cru had 12 hits and took advantage of seven walks, three hit batsmen and three Cowgirl errors to post 17 runs.
The Cowgirls managed eight hits in the game and Cera Beasley had the only RBI for the Cowgirls on a bases loaded walk in the fifth inning. Lydia Bradley and Katie Shepard had two hits each for HSU.
In the second game, Laura Rawlings went the distance and struck out 10, while scattering 11 hits.
The Cru scored single runs in the third, fifth and seventh innings. The first two runs came in ona pair of double by Kacie Cripner.
Seniors Sadye Hill and Lydia Bradley each had a hit for the Cowgirls in their final games for HSU. Daphne Khaliq threw the complete-game three-hit shutout for the Cru.
HSU ends its season with a record of 16-18 and 10-14 in league play. UMHB improved to 31-5 and finished ASC play with a perfect 24-0 mark.
