Cowgirls Get Offense On Track in 5-0 Win
ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team got its offense rolling with a 5-0 win over LeTourneau in the American Southwest Conference opener for both schools on Friday afternoon at the HSU Soccer Complex.
The Cowgirls dominated the game from the outset and scored two goals in the first half and three in the second, despite LeTourneau's bunkered down defensive technique that had 10 players in the defensive zone most of the game.
Morgan Loyd scored the Cowgirls first goal at 20:44 on an assist from Erin Low and Lindsay Cogburn scored in the 39th minute from Becca Gault.
In the second half Sarah Stansell scored from Lindsay Cogburn. Carlyn Powers scored in the 70th minute and Jordan Morley scored in the 80th minute.
HSU allowed only two shots in the game and only one on target. Christi Carr and Rebecca Roth split halves in goal for the Cowgirls. Nicole Tammelin had seven saves for LeTourneau.
HSU is 2-2-2 on the year and 1-0 in league play. The Cowgirls will host East Texas Baptist at 2 p.m. on Saturday. LeTourneau is 2-3 and 0-1 in league play. HSU now has a 95-game unbeaten streak in ASC action.
