Cowgirls Finish Fourth at ASC Championship

ANNA, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's golf team finished fourth at the American Southwest Conference Championships at the par-72 Hurricane Creek Country Club in Anna, Texas.

Ashley Luecke shot a 79 and moved all the way to third place in the standings to earn All-ASC honors with an 84-79-163. Whitney Mitchell improved from 92 to 80 and finished with a 172 total. Heather Hambrick shot 87-91-178, DeLane Griffith shot 95-88-183 and Addie Vest shot a pair of 100s for a 200 total.

McMurry won its first every ASC women's golf team title. They shot rounds of 333 and 337 and held off a charge by Mary Hardin-Baylor. McMurry shot 670 and UMHB shot a 327 in the final round and finished with a 679.UT-Tyler was third at 691 and HSU finished with a 696 for fourth. Defending champion Texas Lutheran finished fifth with a 734.

Samantha Humphrey of UT-Tyler shot a 75-83-158 for a four-stroke win in the medalist race over Surraya Minhas of Schreiner, who was playing as an individual.

The tournament likely ends the Cowgirl season, but Luecke has a good chance to qualify for the NCAAs as an individual.
