Cowgirls In Contention At Al Jones Memorial Tournament

ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's golf team opened the Al Jones Memorial Tournament with a 318 and sits in third place at the par-72, 5,801-yard Cascades Golf Club in Tyler.

Carly Pachuta and Kayleigh Mints each shot opening-round 77s for the Cowgirls and they are tied for sixth place overall, two shots behind co-leaders Valentina Olivieri of Southwestern and Jessica Varner of Centenary.

Baylee Oehlert shot an 81, Kelsie Guinn had an 83 and Heidi Moser shot an 84 for the Cowgirls.

Southwestern leads the team race after shooting a 309. UT Tyler is in second place with a 316 and the Cowgirls are in third with a 318. Schreiner is fourth with a 329, followed by Cal Lutheran, Texas-Tyler B, Texas Lutheran, Centenary, McMurry and Howard Payne.

The tournament concludes with 18 holes on Tuesday.
