Cowgirls move up to Fourth

RICHARDSON, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's golf team moved up two spots in the standings to finish in a tie with McMurry University for fourth place after the second round of UT-Dallas' Lady Comet Invitational at the par-71, 6,163-yard Canyon Creek Country Club in Richardson.
As a team the Cowgirls shot a 719 improving their score by 27 strokes. UC Santa Cruz won the tournament with a 684, followed by Northwood with a 686, and UT Tyler with a 700.
Jessica Lewis of UC Santa Cruz finished with the lead after shooting a 79 Monday and an 83 Tuesday, leaving her with a two-day total of 162. HSU had two players place in the top 20, Ashley Luecke who shot a 82-88-170 which placed her in a tie for seventh and DeLane Griffith who shot a 98-83-181 placing her 19th.
Tiffany Hambrick shot a 92-91-183, Ashley Jacques shot a 102-84-186, and Sara Parker shot a 101-110-211 to round out the Cowgirl lineup.
