Jacques In Lead At LeTourneau Invitational

LONGVIEW, Texas -- Hardin-Simmons sophomore Ashley Jacques is in first place after the first round of the LeTourneau Spring Invitational, that was held at the 5,877-yard, par-72 Pinecrest Country Club in Longview.

Jacques shot 43 on the front side and came back with a 38 to shoot 81. She has a three shot lead over Taylor Scott of Texarkana Community College.

Overall, the Cowgirls are in fifth place as a team. Tiffany Hambrick, DeLane Griffith and Andrea Thrap shot 100, 101 and 102 respectively to round out the lineup. The Cowgirls are playing with only four players this spring.

UT-Tyler and Mary Hardin-Baylor lead the team event at 373. Texarkana CC and LeTourneau are both three shots back at 376 and the Cowgirls are 11 strokes off the pace.

The tournament will conclude with 18 holes on Tuesday.
