Cowgirls In Third Place At Alamo City

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Hardin-Simmons's women's golf team shot a 353, its best round of the fall, and is in a tie for third place at the Alamo City Classic at River Crossing Country Club in San Antonio.
The Cowgirls are tied with McMurry and they are the top scoring Division III teams in the field. HSU is two shots out of second place UT-Brownsville. St. Mary's leads the tournament with a 326.
Ashley Luecke leads the Cowgirls after shooting an 80 and she is in a tie for second place overall, 10 strokes behind the two-under par 70 Marisa Mauldin of Southwestern shot.
Ashley Jacques shot an 86 and Tiffany Hambrick an 87 to rank 13th and 17th respectively. Andrea Tharp shot 100 and DeLane Griffith rounded out the team with a 102.
The event has a strong field with St. Mary's, UT-Brownsville and American Southwest Conference foes McMurry, Mary Hardin-Baylor and Texas Lutheran. Southwestern and Trinity did not send full teams, but their best players are in the field.
The tournament will conclude with 18 holes on Tuesday.
