Cowgirls Win 22nd Straight Against Sul Ross State

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball team won its 22nd straight game against Sul Ross State with a 84-44 win Thursday night in American Southwest Conference action at the Mabee Complex.
After a quick start by both teams, Hardin-Simmons went on a 27-5 run that put the game away early in the first half. HSU led 35-11 with 5:23 to play in the half. The only question after the run would be the final score. HSU led 39-21 at the half.
All 14 Cowgirls scored in the game and all 14 Cowgirls also had a rebound.
Leading the way for the Cowgirls was Lindsey Newcombe, who scored 15 points and had seven rebounds and five blocks in just 22 minutes of action. Ashley Allen had 11 points and was the only other Cowgirl in double figures.
HSU hit 10 3-pointers in the game, by eight different players and had 18 assists on 30 made baskets. HSU also won the battle of the board 46-33 and limited the Lobos to 24.4 percent shooting in the game.
Morgan Johnson led Sul Ross State with 10 points in the game.
HSU is now 16-4 on the year and 13-3 in ASC action. Sul Ross State fell to 6-13 overall and 5-11 in league play. The Cowgirls will take on No. 2 Howard Payne on Saturday at 1 p.m.
