HSU Sets Five New School Records At the Texas Tech Open

LUBBOCK, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' track and field teams set five school records over the two-day Texas Tech Open in Lubbock.

Kearra Greer set the school record in the 60 meters with a time of 8.22. Kennedy Connor 8.30, Samantha Pennese 8.36, Rhea Harris 8.38, Destani Warner 8.41 and Aylin Neri 8.73 all ran the 60 for the Cowgirls.

Sydney Tencate lowered her 1-mile school record to 5:29.67 to place 10th overall.

Tencate, Robson, Katlynn Nichols and Eastham ran a school record 14:09.17 in the distance medley.

Greer led the 200 runners with a time of 27.16. Jessica Eastham led the Cowgirls with a 1:04.54 in the 400. Lauren Robson ran a 2:31 in the 800.

Hasanai Chanriang lowered his own school record with a 50.22 in the 400. Lorenzo Jones ran a 2:04.55 in the 800 to pace HSU.

Clayton Holmes led the Cowboy sprinters in the 60 meters with a time of 7.20 and he was also the top Cowboy in the 200 with a 23.39.

Sammy Magallen ran a 5:01.73 in the mile to pace HSU's contingent.

Chanriang, Myles Stennis, Cesar Ramirez and Nygel Starling lowered the school record in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:27.43.

HSU will run at Texas Tech again in two weeks.
