Tennis Teams Earn ASC Honors

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' tennis teams were awarded the American Southwest Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Team Sportsmanship Awards, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
The award, in its first academic year, honors the member institution in each ASC championship sport that best displays positive qualities of sportsmanship and fair play from its student-athletes, coaches and fans throughout the season. The Student-Athlete Advisory Committees from the conference's 15 member institutions vote on the recipients.
Hardin-Simmons was honored in West Division men's tennis and shared the West women's tennis award with Sul Ross State. The Lobos of SRSU also won the sportsmanship honor in West Division baseball and men's track and field. LeTourneau and Howard Payne were named top softball sportsmanship squads for the East and West Divisions, respectively. Mary Hardin-Baylor took the men's golf honor, while McMurry took the award on the women's side. Mississippi College was honored in East Division men's and women's tennis. Texas Lutheran took the award for women's track and field.
