Brooks, Shaughnessy Earn Honors

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team had two members selected for honors on Wednesday, as Ryan Shaughnessy was named third-team all-region and Jeff Brooks was named second-team Academic All-American.

Shaughnessy, a sophomore goalkeeper from Waco, was selected to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's third-team in the Central Region. He led the Cowboys to the American Southwest Conference Tournament. He was one of the top goalkeepers in the nation with a 0.71 goals against average and had five solo shutouts and was part of 11 shared shutouts.

Brooks, who has a 4.0 grade point average as a theology and math double major, was named to the All-American Second Team for the College Division by the College Sports Information Director's of America. The College Division encompasses teams from Division II, III and NAIA across the U.S. and Canada.

He is the ninth Cowboy to be named Academic All-American in the last five years.
