Nov. 20, 2003

RICHARDSON, Texas - Hardin-Simmons had two players earn All-ASC honors and the maximum of seven players were named to the All-West Division teams as voted on by the league's coaches.

Freshman forward David Salas picked up the most hardware for the Cowboys, earning ASC West Offensive Freshman of the Year, All-ASC and All-ASC West First-Team honors. He led the team and the conference with 14 goals.

Sophomore Sweeper Brad Barham also earned All-ASC honors. He was the leader of the defensive backfield. He was also named first-team All-ASC West.

Junior forward James Burton had 11 goals and was named first-team All-ASC West and Bryan Staub earned first-team honors as a midfielder.

Sophomore defender Chris Carroll, freshman midfielder Ryan Flanigan and sophomore goalkeeper Ryan Shaughnessy were named second-team All-ASC. Shaughnessy led the league in goals against average was named ASC Defensive Player of the Week four times but was denied All-ASC and Defensive player of the year honors for the second straight season for some odd reason.

The Cowboys were 13-4-2 on the season and were 8-1-1 in ASC West play.
