Two Named ASC Soccer Players of the Week

Hardin-Simmons' was well represented on the American Southwest Conference Player of the Week list as defender Mollie Porter was named ASC defensive player of the week and freshman forward Drew Meilinger was named ASC co-offensive player of the week.

Senior defender Mollie Porter led a solid Hardin-Simmons defensive effort that produced three shutouts, including two against ASC opponents. Porter nailed a goal and added an assist in the 2-0 win against Texas Lutheran to knock the Bulldogs from the ranks of ASC undefeated teams (Sept. 24). She scored a goal vs. Schreiner in a 6-0 win (Sept. 25).

Drew Meilinger assisted on the tying goal then netted the game-winning goal in overtime to boost Hardin-Simmons to a 2-1 win at Texas Lutheran to open the Cowboys' road weekend (Sept. 24). Meilinger scored the first goal in the 2-1 HSU win at Schreiner on Saturday (Sept. 25) to keep the Cowboys undefeated in conference play.
