Shaughnessy, Castagnos Honored by ASC

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons had two soccer players named player of the week by the American Southwest Conference.

Sophomore forward Cathy Castagnos was named ASC West offensive player of the week, as she scored the Cowgirls' lone goal in the 1-0 win over defending conference champion UT-Dallas, in a non-conference match.

Men's goalkeeper Ryan Shaughnessy was named ASC defensive player of the week for the second straight week. He pitched a shutout against Southwestern, and held No. 1 Trinity to a season-low three goals, one of which was knocked in by his own teammate.

The Cowboys return to action Friday when it hosts Concordia at 8 p.m. and both teams play Mary Hardin-Baylor at home on Saturday. It is the first conference action for either team.
