Dan Heger came to Hardin-Simmons as a player for his senior season in 1979 when he was captain and led the team to a No. 3 ranking in the Midwest Region as a Division I team. He remained associated with the program on some level since then, even sending players to Hardin-Simmons even when he was a coach at the high school level.

Heger is now in his seventh season as the Cowboys’ head coach and he is the school’s all-time wins leader with a record of 69-40-12. He has led the Cowboys to two American Southwest Conference titles.

He and wife Cylinda, who is also a Hardin-Simmons graduate, have been married for 27 years. They have two children Harrison, who is 17 and a senior at Wylie High School and Hannah, who is 15 and a sophomore at Wylie.

Heger is committed to the positive difference a Hardin-Simmons education can make in the life of a soccer player.
