GEORGETOWN, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team picked up its first win of the season with a 1-0 win over Southwestern on Saturday evening at Varsity Fields in Georgetown.

The Cowboys picked up the game winner at the 60:01 mark when Danny Benyamin scored for the first time in his career. David Rice had the assist for the Cowboys.

The defensive contest saw the two teams combine for just eight shots on the night, with HSU having a 5-3 advantage.

Michael Vargas had three saves to record the 24th shutout of his career.

HSU is 1-2 on the year and Southwestern fell to 1-3. The Pirates have lost three matches 1-0 to American Southwest Conference teams in the past week.

The Cowboys will be home for the first time next weekend when it host Texas-Tyler at 4:30 on Friday in the ASC opener.
