Cowboys Draw With UTPB

ODESSA, Texas – Hardin-Simmons’ men’s soccer team stepped out of American Southwest Conference play for a game at Division II Texas-Permian Basin and came out with a 1-1 tie, Tuesday afternoon at Falcon Field in Odessa.

The Falcons got on the board first in the 68th minute when Carlos Guillen scored unassisted. Hardin-Simmons got the equalizer in the 82nd minute when Juan Pena found Estevan Arbaiza for a goal.

Neither team was able to score in the two overtime periods to end the game in a draw. It was a close contest with UTPB outshooting the Cowboys 22-15 overall and 8-7 on-goal.

The Cowboys are now 4-3-2 on the year and UTPB is 5-3-3.

HSU returns home to play Ozarks on Friday at 3 p.m.
