Heger Sets HSU Wins Record As Cowboys Blank Ozarks

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team stayed unbeaten in American Southwest Conference play with a 1-0 win over the University of the Ozarks, Friday afternoon at the HSU Soccer Complex.
The win gave head coach Dan Heger his 64th career win, moving him past Misail Tsapos as the all-time wins leader at HSU. Heger is 64-32-3 all-time at HSU.
Both teams slugged it out for the first 75 minutes before HSU got on the board when freshman Dustin Botting scored on a nice centering pass from Estevan Arbaiza at the 76:10 mark.
The Cowboys held off a furious onslaught by Ozarks in the last 14 minutes of the game. Logan Waters had seven saves and recorded the shutout in goal.
HSU got strong play from its back line in the game. HSU outshot Ozarks 14-10 in the match and the Eagles led 7-6 on-goal.
The win pushed the Cowboys to 5-2-2 on the year and 4-0-1 in league play. Ozarks fell to 6-2-2 and 1-2-1 in conference action. HSU will play defending league champion UT-Dallas on Saturday at 3 p.m.
