

Almond Scores Twice in 3-1 Win Over McMurry
ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team defeated crosstown rival McMurry 3-1 in American Southwest Conference action at Edawrds Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Cowboys jumped on the board in the 19th minute when Patrick Almond started a big individual day with an assist to freshman Cody McGrath, who beat Leeland Karpf from five yards out.
The game remained 1-0 at halftime and Almond gave the Cowboys a 2-0 lead with an unassisted goal at the 49:42 mark. Almond added a second goal just over three minutes later when the Karpf came out of his line and Almond beat him.
McMurry added a goal by Chris Ryan at the 63:43 mark.
The Cowboys outshot McMurry 26-15 in the game and 13-7 on goal. Logan Waters had six saves in goal for HSU.
HSU improved to 7-4-4 overall and 6-1-2 in American Southwest Conference play. McMurry remained winless on the year, falling to 0-13 overall and 0-9 in league play.
