Cowboys Drop Season Opener

HOUSTON, Texas - Hardin-Simmons men's soccer team
dropped its season opener, losing 3-1 to NCAA Division I school
Houston Baptist, Monday afternoon in Houston.
HBU jumped out to an early lead with two first half goals. The Huskies received a goal from George Sangria at the 27:46 mark and followed it up with another goal less than two minutes later by Ruzhdi Halili.
The Cowboys got on the board when Cody Oswald found Estevan Arbaiza at the 52:53 mark. HBU added its third goal in the 75th minute when Jay Ambrosy found the net.
Micha Bouchahine had two saves and HSU freshman Brandon McClure had seven saves in his debut in net for the Cowboys. McClure was one of six freshmen to start the game for HSU.
HSU fell to 0-1 on the year and HBU improved to 1-1. HSU plays its next contest at Trinity Sept. 5 at 7:30 pm.
