Cowboys In Sixth After First Day of ASC Championships

ANNA, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's golf team is tied for sixth place after the first two rounds of the American Southwest Conference Championships at the par-72 Hurricane Creek Country Club in Anna, Texas.
The Cowboys shot rounds of 318 and 314 for a 632 total and are just five shots out of fourth place. Mary Hardin-Baylor and Texas Lutheran are in a tight race for the team title. UMHB leads with a 597 and TLU is one shot back at 598. UT-Tyler is in third place at 610, McMurry is fourth at 627, UTD is 628 and HSU and LeTourneau are tied with a 632.
Michael Weehunt and J.C. Eagle are the top scoring Cowboys as they fired 157s. Weehunt shot 82-75 and Eagle 79-78. Brian Laing shot 79-80-159, Brad Leeper shot a pair of 81s and Dustin Minchew shot 79 in the first round and 86 in round two.
The tournament will conclude with 18 holes on Tuesday.
