Cowboys Finish Sixth At ASC Preview

 

AUSTIN, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's golf team slipped to sixth place on the final day of the American Southwest Conference preview at the par-72, 7,028-yard Avery Ranch Golf Club in Austin.

The Cowboys finished with a 304-306-610 total. Concordia won the tournament with an impressive 290-285-575 total. UT-Tyler was 12 strokes back at 589, UT-Dallas was third at 602, followed by Mary Hardin-Baylor (605), McMurry (608), HSU, LeTourneau (618) and Howard Payne.

Matt Jouett had a nice tournament for the Cowboys as he shot 72-74-146 to place fifth overall. He had six birdies in the tournament.

Aaron Errico shot 75-76-151 to place 12th overall. Luke Smith shot a pair of 78's to finish with a 156 total. Nick Vella shot 79-78—157, Drake Kube had an 82-79-161 total and Greg Garrison shot 92-85-177.

Seger Howell of Concordia won the individual title with a 68-67-135 total, which was seven shots clear of the field. He made 14 birdies over two rounds.

HSU will next be in action on April 9-10 at the West Region Tournament at Berry Creek in Georgetown.
