Cowboys Move Up To Sixth At Schreiner Spring Shootout
KERRVILLE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's golf team moved from a tie for seventh to sixth place with a 306 in the final round of the Schreiner Spring Shootout at the par-72, 7,103-yard Club at Comanche Trace on Tuesday afternoon in Kerrville.

Freshman Matt Jouett led the Cowboys with a 73 on Tuesday and he shot 76-73 for the tournament to lead the Cowboys with a 14th place finish. Aaron Errico shot 75-77-152 to tie for 19th and Luke Smith shot a 77-76-153 which was good for 21st overall. Austin Prior improved eight strokes in the second round and shot 86-78-164 and Michael Speck shot 86-82-168.

UT-Tyler and Mary Hardin-Baylor tied for the team title with 581 totals, but UTT won a scorecard playoff for the team title. Trinity shot a blazing 277 on Tuesday and went from seventh to third with a 314-277-591. Concordia was fourth with a 596, Schreiner was fifth with a 610, HSU was sixth with a 314-306-620, McMurry was seventh with a 631, Texas Lutheran shot 632 and Howard Payne was ninth with a 644.

Mats Heien of Mary Hardin-Baylor shot 72-69-141 to edge teammate Jarrod Brown and Sam Hill of UT-Tyler by one stroke for the medalist title.

HSU is off until March 27 when it goes to LaVerne, Calif., for the West Cup.
