Cowboys In Eighth Place At Linda Lowery
AUSTIN, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's golf team is in eighth place after the first round of the Linda Lowery Invitational which is being held at the par-71, 6,506-yard, Riverplace Country Club in Austin.

Luke Smith led the way for the Cowboys with a 77, Matt Jouett and Aaron Errico each had a 78, Chris Rorie shot an 83 and Austin Prior was the toss away score with an 84. Jouett and Prior led the Cowboys with three birdies each on the day.

Concordia leads the team race with a one-under par 283. UT-Tyler is in second with a 290. HSU shot a 316 and is in eighth place in the 14-team field.

Mateo Gavilanes of Concordia shot a six-under par 65 to lead the medalist race by two strokes over teammate Seger Howell.
The teams will play 18 holes on Tuesday to coclude the tournament.
