Cowboys To Play Mary Hardin-Baylor

Nov. 12, 2006
ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' football team will hit the road for the first round of the NCAA Football Playoffs, but it will be a familiar drive to conference foe Mary Hardin-Baylor.
The two teams will meet in the playoffs for the second time in school history. UMHB won the last meeting in the playoffs by a score of 42-28 en route to the Stagg Bowl in 2004. The Crusaders won the meeting between the two teams this year 28-12 in Belton on Oct. 7.
HSU (8-1) has been on a roll since that loss. The Cowboys have not had a game that was in doubt in the second half since then. HSU received one of the seven Pool C berths into the field.
"We are just excited to get the chance to be in the playoffs," said HSU head coach Jimmie Keeling. "Our kids have played extremely well since that loss to Mary Hardin-Baylor. As far as playing Mary Hardin-Baylor, we know what they do and they know what we do. It will come down to execution."
Mary Hardin-Baylor is 8-2 on the year. Game time is set for noon in Belton.
