HSU Football to Be on 100.7 in Abilene

Sept. 14, 2007
ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' football game on Saturday will be broadcast on 100.7 FM in Abilene.
As you probably already know we were with Gospel 90.5 for seven years and had a good relationship.
Unfortunately, that station was sold in the middle of the football season last year. We went to 1280-AM, which is part of the GAP Broadcasting group in Abilene. They were able to accommodate us for the 2007 spring season with basketball, baseball and softball. They will be the home for those sports as well again this year.
The problem was for football they have contracts with UTEP and Texas A&M that they could not get out of. The contract with UTEP expires after this season and we will be with them full time on 100.7 next year. In the mean time, we will be doing a lot of channel hopping for the 2007 campaign.
This weekend's game will be on 100.7. Next week against Louisiana College will be on 1280 AM.
The reason we can't be set in stone what channel we will be on is that Texas A&M and UTEP can't officially set their game times, because they can be moved with as little as a week's notice for television. Their game times are TBA, so we are going off of them. If one of the two stations is open during our slot we will be on the air, if not then we will be an internet only broadcast at www.hsuathletics.com.
