Cowboys Pound Bulldogs, 35-7

SEGUIN, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' football team continued its roll with a 35-7 win over Texas Lutheran in American Southwest Conference action Saturday afternoon at Matador Stadium.
The Cowboys came within a minute of its first shutout of the season as the HSU defense limited the Bulldogs to 256 yards and seven points. Jason Trahan's touchdown from Joel Waldon with 1:22 to play and on fourth down ended the shutout attempt. The Cowboys had seven sacks in the game, including 2.5 by Reggie Robinson.
Other than that it was a methodical game for the Cowboys. HSU had the ball for 33:26 in the game and had 22 first downs.
Jordan Neal completed 22-of-32 passes for 294 yards and four touchdowns. His favorite target was Mychal Carrillo who had eight catches for 92 yards and a touchdown. Will Galusha caught six balls for 63 yards and two touchdowns.
Carrillo caught a 9-yard touchdown pass from Neal on the Cowboys' first drive. It capped a 11-play, 68-yard drive with 8:35 to play in the first quarter. Galusha made it 14-0 with a 5-yard TD pass from Neal with 10:09 to play in the second quarter.
HSU thought they had scored on the last play off the half, but Dwight Bonner wrestled an interception away in the end zone.
Justin Greene scored on a 2-yard run in the third quarter. Galusha scored on a 44-yard TD pass from Neal with 11:25 to play. Tim Chandler scored his first career touchdown on a pass from Jordan Neal.
HSU moves to 7-1 on the year and 5-1 in league play. Texas Lutheran fell to 5-4 on the year and 3-4 in league play. HSU will close the regular season next weekend at home against McMurry.
