David Rausch

Former Cowboy David Rausch is in his second season as the defensive line and junior varsity coach.
Rausch was in the Cowboy program for five years as a player and was also a student coach and strength coach for three years. He spent the last two seasons as a graduate assistant at Oklahoma State University where he helped lead the Cowboys to back-to-back bowl appearances (Cotton and Alamo).
Rausch was a standout defensive back for the Cowboys in the mid to late 90's and he was four times an all-conference selection, including first team in 1998 and second-team in 1999. He is among the Cowboys' all-time leaders in interceptions; he had seven as a junior and 11 for his career.
He earned his bachelor's and is still pursuing his master's degree at Hardin-Simmons. He has also spent time at Arizona State in the strength and conditioning program.
Rausch was a starter for Randy Allen at Cooper High School on the 1993 team that was ranked No. 1 in the state most of the season. He spent one semester at Angelo State before transferring to the Cowboys.
