AUSTIN, Texas — Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team overcame a 12-point deficit with 10:50 to play and clinched second place in the American Southwest Conference West Division with a 92-88 win over Concordia on Saturday afternoon at the CTX Fieldhouse.
Concordia led most of the first half and took a 40-34 lead into halftime. Darius Anderson's lay-up gave Concordia a 69-57 lead with 10:50 to play.
The Cowboys held off the Tornados at the free throw line down the stretch.
Concordia was led by Nick Haynes' 22 points. Darius Anderson added 17 points and Brett DeMetrotion had 12 points.
The two teams combined for 80 points off the bench. HSU shot 41.2 percent and held Concordia to 34.5 percent shooting.
HSU is now 17-6 on the year and 14-5 in ASC play. Concordia is now 13-10 overall and 11-8 in league play. The Cowboys close the regular season with a pair of games at home next weekend against Sul Ross State and Howard Payne.
