

Cowboys Fall To UTD
ABILENE, Texas -- Hardin-Simmons’
men’s basketball team dropped its fourth straight game with a
79-62 loss to Texas-Dallas on Monday night in American Southwest
Conference action at the Mabee Complex.
Once again the Cowboys played well for the first 30 minutes of the
game, but could not close down the stretch.
Trailing 23-16 with 8:01 to play in the first half, the Cowboys
went on a 10-0 run with a pair of 3-pointers by Rob Yeatts and one
by Mark Schlott and a Steven Wesley free throw. The teams traded
basket the rest of the half and UTD held a 32-31 lead at the
break.
UTD led 58-57 with 6:40 to play and then UTD went on a 19-4 run to
close out the game. The Cowboys did not make a basket the last 6:40
of the game.
Rob Yeatts led three Cowboys in double figures with 16 points. Mark
Schlott had 15 points, that included a highlight reel dunk. Steven
Wesley had 14 points.
Ernie Lowery led UTD with 23 points and Chris Barnes added 13 and
Brandon Green and Jordan Eppink had 12 points each.
HSU is now 3-7 on the year and 2-4 in league play. Texas-Dallas
improved to 10-1 overall and 5-1 in ASC action. HSU will play at
East Texas Baptist on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
