Singer Scores 27 As Cowboys Fend Off Tornados

ABILENE, Texas - Carlos Singer scored a career-best 27 points as Hardin-Simmons men's basketball team held off Concordia 87-83 in American Southwest Conference action at the Mabee Complex on Thursday evening.
Singer scored 19 of his 27 in the first half as the Cowboys jumped out to a 59-40 halftime lead. The Cowboys shot 67 percent in the first half hitting 24-of-36 shots and was 7-for-11 from the 3-point line.
Terrence Willis had 19 points and 11 rebounds for the Cowboys and Steven Wesley had 14 points and Casey Riddle added 10 points and seven assists.
In the second half, the Cowboys maintained a double-digit lead until Concordia chipped the deficit to as few as two points with :56 to play. However Singer iced the game with a layup with :13 to play.
Brad Walker led Concordia with 24 points and Jason Recendez added 21.
HSU is now 7-13 on the year and 6-10 in league play. Concordia fell to 7-12 overall and 6-9 in ASC play. The Cowboys will host Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday at 3 p.m. for Senior Day.
